The wait for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions is over as 10 franchises will raise the baton for 590 players. The auctions will begin on Saturday (February 12) at 11:00 AM IST, as franchises will gather in Bengaluru to shape their teams for 15th edition of IPL. This year there will be two more teams who will participate in the auctions, so a lengthy process is expected.
The IPL season 15 is expected to kick-start in the last week of March and will last until May, provided there are no forced changes due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Players from 14 overseas countries will try their luck in the auctions which include premier cricketing nations like Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa and many others. Players from USA, Nepal and Singapore have also registered their names for this season's mega auctions.

No Right to Match (RTM) option
This year there will be no Right to Match (RTM) option which was part of the previous auctions. Franchises were allowed to match the bid of another team for a player who was released in the previous season, which indirectly allowed the team owners to retain the player. Yuzvendra Chahal was a prime example in 2018, who wasn't retained by RCB but was picked in the auction.
