Harshal Patel and Glenn Maxwell led a clinical bowling performance to help Royal Challengers Bangalore register a 13-run win over Chennai Super Kings, pushing the defending champions to the brink of elimination in the IPL on Wednesday (May 4).
The quartet of Mahipal Lomror, who smashed a 27-ball 42, skipper Faf du Plessis (38 off 22), Virat Kohli (30 off 33) and Dinesh Karthik (27 not out off 17) did well to lift RCB to 173 for 8. RCB bowlers then restricted the defending champions to 160 for 8, despite a fifty by opener Devon Conway (56). With the win RCB moved to fourth position on the points table, while CSK were pushed closer to the brink of elimination as they remained at the penultimate spot.

The top five in the race for the Orange Cap were not affected by the match on Wednesday. Jos Buttler continues to lead the charts followed by KL Rahul. Shikhar Dhawan is third, while Abhishek Sharma and Shreyas Iyer are fourth and fifth respectively, although they both have 324 runs.
Purple Cap
Yuzvendra Chahal continues to lead the wicket charts with 19 scalps in 10 matches and is followed by Kuldeep Yadav, Kagiso Rabada and T Natarajan, who have 17 scalps each. Wanindu Hasaranga moved into the fifth position with 16 wickets in 11 matches
