Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) needed a win over Mumbai Indians (MI) to remain in contention for a place in the playoffs, and they scalped the win with aplomb, beating their opponents by 52 runs to move to seventh on the points table.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer made five changes, bringing back Venkatesh Iyer and Varun Chakaravarthy into the team, and both the players repaid the faith put in them with good performances. Venkatesh, who was back to open the batting for KKR, scored a 24-ball 43 at a strike rate of 179.16.
