The match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Thursday was the reunion of two West Indies teammates Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, who share a close bond on and off the field. Umpteen times, CSK's Bravo has been heard referring Pollard as his best friends. It was a moment to rejoice for fans to see two old friends squaring off against each other for different franchisees. Despite the rivalry between CSK and MI in IPL, Bravo did something right ahead of the match, which proved the camaraderie between the Caribbean all-rounders.
The duo shared a light moment before the match as Bravo in a sweet gesture greeted Pollard by touching his feet. After that, the MI's star all-rounder reciprocated by hugging Bravo and later they continued their chit chat.
In a video posted on social media platforms, Kieron Pollard was on his way to batting practice when Dwayne Bravo popped up and touched his feet. The duo then share a friendly hug together along with a conversation, and head their separate ways.
However, the great MS Dhoni turned back the clock to script a three wicket victory for CSK against MI on Thursday, following a heart-stopping finish that saw him hit a four off the last ball of the game.
As far as the match is concerned, CSK pacer Mukesh Choudhary wreaked havoc with the new ball before Tilak Varma’s responsible 51 not out off 43 lifted Mumbai Indians to 155 for seven.
Dhoni (28 not out off 13) batted like the finisher of his hey days to help CSK get the required 17 runs off the final over to win their second game of the season and extend Mumbai Indians winless streak this season to seven games.
Meanwhile, couple of days before Pollard surprised everyone by calling it quits to the International cricket. The 34-year-old was the skipper of the Caribbean team that competed against India in the three-match ODI and T20I series earlier this year.
During his 15-year glorious career for the West Indies, the Trinidad and Tobago cricketer played in 123 ODIs and 101 T20Is and was an integral part of the side that won the 2012 T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. He has scored 2706 runs in ODI matches and picked up 55 wickets. And in T20Is, he has 1569 runs and 42 wickets to his name.
