MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are reigning supreme in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023's points table with five victories in a total of seven matches which earned them 10 good points. Going by their recent form, it won't be an exaggeration to say CSK will easily make it to the playoffs yet again. The five-time champions CSK are gearing up for their clash against former holders Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai ManSingh stadium in Jaipur on Thursday (April 27).
Meanwhile, right ahead of the CSK versus RR clash, former CSK star spinner Harbhajan Singh revealed Dhoni's mantra. Harbhajan said that the legendary Dhoni backs the players to the hilt which has been his winning mantra and the reason behind CSK's immense success in IPL so far.
Dhoni's brigade got off to a losing start to the IPL 2023's season, but they launched an exceptional comeback and made their way to top of the table.
Dhoni very well knows when and how to take the best out of their players who are putting on a show in the ongoing cash-rich league. Every CSK player has a role to play in the team. The dazzling opening duo of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad has been oozing runs in IPL 2023 while the new avatar of Ajinky Rahane has stunned everyone with the way he has been striking balls with a lightning strike rate of close to 200.
Shivam Dube is another name on the grid who has impressed with his batting blitzes while Tushar Deshpande has also delivered whenever CSK needed them as he has been amongst the highest wicket-taker in the sixteenth season of the IPL.
While speaking to Star Sports, Harbhajan said that Dhoni has his own way of backing players as he gives leeway to his batters to bat in their best and favoured positions. Harbhajan also said that Dhoni doesn't deviate from his game plan frequently and rest is done by the CSK management who understands that the players need to have faith and belief in them.
"The winning mantra of MS Dhoni is that he backs the player at his best and favoured batting position. Dhoni backs the players to the hilt and that is the reason why CSK is a champion team. He doesn't deviate from his game plan frequently or after every match. The players need to have that belief and faith in the management and captain. Only then they perform and MS and CSK team management understands it," Harbhajan said.
