The Indian Premier League (IPL) is among the most popular T20 leagues in the world. There have been 15 editions of the competition, which started in the year 2008. With each passing season, new players replace the veterans, and this has led to some of the biggest players in the world.

Many of these players, after participating across multiple editions, have said their goodbyes to the league. Some of these legendary players are also a part of the list of players with the most runs and most wickets in this competition. Here are some of these players and their achievements in the IPL.

TOP 5 BATTERS
Suresh Raina

The 'Chinna Thala' of Chennai Super Kings, i.e. Suresh Raina, is no. 5 on the list of batters with the most runs in the IPL. Raina was a key cog of CSK before he announced his retirement, having played 205 matches in the league. He scored a total of 5528 runs at an average of 32.52. Raina scored one century and 39 half-centuries in his IPL career.

AB de Villiers

The most-liked cricketer in India and Virat's favourite former teammate, AB de Villiers is number two. De Villiers, who was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore and won the fans with his powerful batting, played a total of 184 matches, scoring 5162 runs with an average of 39.70, including three centuries and 40 half-centuries.

Chris Gayle

Universe Boss Chris Gayle, who last played for Punjab Kings (PBKS), entertained fans with his batting. Gayle scored a total of 4965 runs in 142 matches at an average of 39.72. He smashed 6 centuries and 31 half-centuries during this period.

Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa, who last turned out for the Chennai Super Kings, played the IPL for many years. In his 205 matches, this batter scored 4952 runs at an average of 27.51. He won the Orange Cap in 2014, also winning the IPL with KKR in the same season, and has scored 27 half-centuries in his IPL career.

Gautam Gambhir

Kolkata's two-time champion and former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir is now the mentor for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Gambhir has played 154 matches in his IPL career, scoring 4217 runs with an average of 31. This batter also has 36 half-centuries.

Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo, who is now the bowling coach of CSK, is known for his batting and bowling. He started with MI but shone at Chennai, ending his long career in the league with 183 wickets in 161 matches and an economy rate of 8.38. Bravo has won the Purple Cap twice — in IPL 2013 and 2015.

Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga, who shone in the IPL for Mumbai Indians, is second on the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in the IPL. Malinga has 170 wickets in 122 matches and an economy of 7.14 for a pacer. He won the IPL trophy five times with MI, and the Purple Cap once, in 2011.

Amit Mishra

Former Team India spinner Amit Mishra last played in the IPL for the Delhi Capitals. Mishra has played a total of 154 matches, taking 166 wickets at an economy of 7.36. Mishra's best performance in the tournament was a five-wicket haul after conceding 17 runs.

Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh, who made his last IPL appearance with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has played a total of 163 matches. The legendary India off-spinner has taken 150 wickets at an economy of 7.08. His best is a five-wicket haul for 18 runs.

R Vinay Kumar

The KKR stalwart was a regular in the IPL for 10 seasons and won the trophy with the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. During his long time in the IPL, Vinay Kumar played 105 IPL games and took 105 wickets in the cash-rich league.
