IPL 2023, KKR vs GT: Kolkata sans match-winners, make two changes in playing XI, invited to bat first against Hardik's brigade

SportsTak

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) lock horns with defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) as Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first in their Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata on Saturday (April 29).

“We will bowl first. Just because of the weather, it was bright and we thought we should bat, but it has changed now. I'm pretty happy with where we are, 7 games gone, 7 more to come, we need to play good cricket and qualify for the playoffs. We are playing the same team,” GT captain Hardik said after winning the toss.

“We would have batted first, DLS could come into the equation, but we would still have batted first. There are always areas where we can improve, we have had some forced changes - Jason Roy has a back issue, he's replaced by Gurbaz. Harshit Rana replaces Umesh Yadav,” KKR skipper Nitish Rana said after the toss.

Pitch Report

“We're playing on pitch number 6. Almost identical square boundaries at 63 and 64m, the straight boundary is a bit longer at 74m and the pockets at 70m. The surface looks superb, there is a bit of rough and a bit of breeze blowing acrss, but it's a good batting surface once again,” Daren Ganga and Matthew Hayden analysed the pitch.
