IPL 2023 Orange Cap: Shikhar Dhawan jumps to the top, young sensation Sai Sudharsan enters top six

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 14 matches have been played in IPL 2023 and the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After 10 days of action in the cash-rich tournament, all teams have played at least two matches while a few franchises have played three games. After Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) lost their respective matches on April 9 (Sunday) none of the teams are unbeaten in the ongoing season of the IPL.

While it's still early days in this edition of the cash-rich league, each franchise would have analysed its strengths and weaknesses depending on the performances. When it comes to the race for Orange Cap, Punjab Kings' captain and stylish batter, Shikhar Dhawan scaled to the top after another brilliant knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9 (Sunday).

1. Shikhar Dhawan: The Punjab Kings skipper has aggregated 225 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 149.01. The southpaw is currently averaging 225 in the ongoing season as he has only been dismissed once in three innings.

2. Rututaj Gaikwad: The right-handed batter has so far scored 189 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 161.54 and an average of 94.50.

3. David Warner: The Delhi Capitals' captain has registered 158 runs in three matches so far at a strike rate of 117.04 and an average of 52.67.

4. Jos Buttler: The Rajasthan Royals' explosive batter has amassed 152 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 180.95 and an average of 50.67.

5. Kyle Mayers: The Lucknow Super Giants' destructive opening batter has scored 139 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 187.84 and an average of 46.33.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans' young sensation Sai Sudharsan jumped to sixth place after smashing yet another half-century. The left-handed batter now has 137 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 133.01.
