Big News: IPL 2023's schedule for playoffs and final announced, these two venues to host big games

The wait is over as the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023's schedule for the playoffs and final has been finally announced. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that IPL 2023's playoffs and final's drama will kick off rom May 23 and will conclude on May 28. As far as venues are concerned, Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium and Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium will host the big games. Qualifier 1 will be held on May 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium followed by the Eliminator on May 24. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the grand finale on May 26 and May 28 respectively.

 

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the schedule of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 playoffs and final. The playoffs and final will be played from 23rd May to 28th May 2023 in Chennai and Ahmedabad. The Qualifier 1 will be held on 23rd May at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium followed by the Eliminator on 24th May.The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host Qualifier 2 and the TATA IPL final on 26th and 28th May respectively,” stated the media release by BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

IPL 2023's schedule for Playoffs and final


May 23 - Qualifier 1 (Chennai)

May 24 - Eliminator (Chennai)

May 26 - Qualifier 2 (Ahemdabad)

May 28 - Final (Ahemdabad)

 

Notably, Ahmedabad will be hosting the IPL final for the second time. Before this, in IPL 2022 Ahmedabad hosted the Qualifier 2 between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and later staged the grand finale between Gujarat Titans (GT) and RR on May 29, 2022. 

 

Meanwhile, Chennai will be staging an IPL playoff game for the first time since 2019. However, it has hosted hosted such big games which iincludes two summit clashes- 2011 and 2012. GT became the IPL 2022's champions as they defeated Sanju Samson-led RR in the final which was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. And IPL 2023's opener between GT and CSK was also head at the same venue in Ahmedabad on March 31. GT defeated MS Dhoni-led CSK to start their campaign in style.
