The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 61 matches have been played so far in IPL 2023 while the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After more than a month of action in the cash-rich tournament, all the teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. Defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) made a mockery of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 15 (Monday) and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs.
Let's take a look at the points table:
1. Gujarat Titans: The defending champions continue to be at the top of the points table with nine wins in 13 matches played. They have earned 18 points and a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.835.
2. Chennai Super Kings: The Men in Yellow continue to be in second place despite losing against KKR. They have seven wins in 13 matches played. They have an NRR of 0.381 and 15 points to their name.
3. Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma's army has shot to finish in the top two in the points table after earning seven victories in 13 matches so far and improving their NNR to -0.117.
4.. Lucknow Super Giants: Krunal Pandya's men are fourth on the points table. LSG have won six out of their 12 matches so far and have an NNR of 0.309 and 13 points.
5. Royal Challengers Bangalore: The Red Army took a massive hit after MI's hammering but bounced back with a resounding win over Rajasthan Royals. They have six wins in 12 matches this season so far with an NRR of 0.166 and 12 points.
6. Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson's slipped to sixth place on the points table. They have six wins and seven defeats in 13 matches played so far. The Royals have earned 12 points with an NNR of 0.140.
7. Kolkata Knight Riders: In 13 matches played, KKR have lost seven games and won six contests. They are in seventh place with an NRR of -0.256.
8. Punjab Kings: The Punjab-based franchise have six wins in 12 matches played. They have 12 points with an NRR of -0.268.
9. Sunrisers Hyderabad: The Orange Army is in ninth place on the points table. They have 10 points with an NRR of -0.575 in 12 matches played.
10. Delhi Capitals: David Warner-led Delhi have only secured four wins in a total of 12 matches played so far with an NRR of -0.686 to sit bottom of the table.
