IPL 2023 Points Table: KKR keep playoff hopes alive with win over SRH, now just two points away from fourth place

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 47 matches have been played in IPL 2023 while the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After more than a  month of action in the cash-rich tournament, all the teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition.

On May 4 (Thursday), the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scraped to a five-run victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) after successfully defending a score of 171 to secure two important points. Although it did not affect the points table, it took KKR two points closer to the fourth points.

Let's take a closer look at IPL 2023 points table:

1. Gujarat Titans: The defending champions continue to be at the top of the points table despite losing on Wednesday. Hardik Pandya's men have 12 points in nine matches played at a Net Run Rate (NNR) of 0.532.

2. Lucknow Super Giants: KL Rahul's men are now second on the points table. LSG have won five out of their ten matches so far and have an NNR of 0.639 ABD 11 points after their game against CSK was washed out.

3. Chennai Super Kings: The Men in Yellow are third after their game against LSG was washed out. They now have five wins in nine matches played. They have a Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.329 and 11 points to their name.

4. Rajasthan Royals: Sanju Samson's side have slipped to fourth place on the points table. They have five wins and four defeats in nine matches played so far. The Royals have earned 10 points with an NNR of 0.800.

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore: The Red Army has five wins in nine matches this season so far. With an NRR of -0.030 and 10 points.

6. Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma's men started their campaign with successive defeats but they won three consecutive matches before losing two consecutive matches again. They bounced back with consecutive wins and have 10 points after playing nine matches.

7. Punjab Kings: The Punjab-based franchise now have five wins in 10 matches played. They now have 10 points with an NRR of -0.472.

8. Kolkata Knight Riders: In nine matches played, KKR have lost six games but returned to winning to register their fourth on Thursday night. They are in the eighth spot with an NRR of -0.103.

9. Sunrisers Hyderabad: The Orange Army are rooted to ninth in the standings. They have six points with an NRR of -0.577 in eight matches played.

10. Delhi Capitals: David Warner's team is at the bottom of the points table with six points after playing nine matches,
