IPL 2023 Purple Cap: Mohammed Shami reclaims top spot but tied on 19 wickets with two other bowlers

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 52 matches have been played in IPL 2023 while the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After more than a month of action in the cash-rich tournament, all the teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. On May 7 (Sunday), Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad bagged two crucial points after winning their respective matches against Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals respectively.

When it comes to the race for Purple Cap, Mohammed Shai reclaimed the top spot but his tied on 19 wickets with teammate Rashid Khan and Chennai Super Kings pacer Tushar Deshpande.

1. Mohammed Shami: Gujarat Titans' right-arm fast bowler has 19 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 16.37.

2. Rashid Khan: Gujarat Titans' leg-spinner has 19 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 18.74.

3. Tushar Deshpande: CSK's right-arm pacer has 19 wickets in 11 matches and currently sits at the top of the leading wicket-takers list. The young pacer has an average of 20.84.

4. Piyush Chawla: Mumbai Indians' leg-spinner has bagged 17 wickets in 10 matches with an average of 16.47 with the ball.

5. Yuzvendra Chahal: Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner has accounted for 17 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.41.

6. Arshdeep Singh: The left-arm medium pacer has bagged 16 wickets in 10 matches in the competition so far. Arshdeep averages 22.56 with the ball.

7. Ravindra Jadeja: The left-arm spinner has 15 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 19.20.

8. Mohammed Siraj: The right-arm fast bowler has bagged 15 wickets in 10 matches in the tournament this season. Siraj averages 19 with the ball.
