Rajasthan Royals (RR) suffered a humiliating 112-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday (May 14) to inch closer to elimination in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Riding on Faf Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell's splendid fifties RCB posted a challenging total of 171/5. What happened next surprised everyone as the IPL 2022's runners-up were bowled out for a measly 59 to claim an embarrassing record against their name. Wayne Parnell ripped through the RR's batting line up and brought them on knees with his spectacular bowling which boasted of bowling figure of 3/10.
The Men in Pink recorded the third lowest total in the history of IPL.

This was not the first time RR's innings was folded for a paltry total as they were reduced to 58 against the same RCB back in 2009.

Five of the RR batters were dismissed for golden ducks as Shimron Hetmyer remained the top scorer for the former champions.
Earlier, Du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. Faf du Plessis brought up his sixth fifty in the IPL 2023 as he cracked an impressive 55 off 44. Later Glenn Maxwell too joined the party and scored 54 off 33 riding on five fours and three sixes to help RCB post 171/5. In reply, RR suffered a monumental collapse and had a batting performance to forget as they were folded for just 59 runs. Hetmyer's 19-ball 35 helped RR avoid the humiliation of recording the lowest IPL score ever.
