In what is a must-win game for the ninth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), they take on the mighty Gujarat Titans (GT) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, May 15. Keeping this in mind, SRH skipper Aiden Markram won and opted to bowl first.

Head to head
The head-to-head record between the Titans and the Sunrisers is currently tied at 1-1. The two teams went up against each other twice last season and won a game each.

Pitch Report
According to former cricketers Samuel Badree and Rohan Gavaskar on the pitch, "It's quite humid at the moment, quite hot. It's pitch number eight. Dimensions - 74 metres (square), just 58 metres on the other side, straight down the ground - 70 metres. It's a fresh surface, unused.

"There's a little bit of moisture, but it's a hot day, so this moisture will dry out in another couple of hours. There are certain spots a little darker than what the pitch colour generally is. Once the moisture dries out, good pitch to bat. It's all going to be about the batters in this contest," they added.

What the skippers said:

“It is a special initiative to support cancer patients. This is just our way of showing our support. We have played really good cricket. Standing in the table doesn't matter that much, you have to play good cricket. When we started, we knew it would be a tricky year for us. The players have put up their hands in tough situations and put their hands up. It is a fresh wicket, we would have liked to field as well. We have a couple of forced changes,” said Hardik Pandya.

“We are gonna bowl first, looks like there is moisture on this wicket, something for the pacers to utilise. If things are meant to work out, it will work out. Guys have the permission to express themselves. We look forward to doing that. Trying to play really good cricket, up to our potential and abilities. We have been playing really good cricket but not getting over the line. Would like to pack a punch tonight. Marco Jansen comes in for Glenn Phillips,” added Aiden Markram.
