The injury list is getting lengthier for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as Sisanda Magala became the latest entrant. The right-arm overseas pacer sustained a split webbing during CSK's match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 12 (Wednesday) and could only bowl two overs. Magala, who was signed as a replacement for injured Kyle Jamieson, will now remain out for at least two weeks, according to the franchise's head coach Stephen Fleming.
"For us again, it's losing another player - that's two games in a row - and we're already pretty thin, so we'd like it to stop. Magala's hand was split unfortunately, so he was unable to bowl those last two overs. And same with Deepak Chahar in the last game, so we're operating on pretty thin resources. But we're not the only team to have that," Fleming said after the game.
In CSK's match against Mumbai Indians (MI), Deepak Chahar hobbled off the ground in between the game due to a hamstring problem. Chahar was out for a better part of 2022 due to a hamstring injury and it was frustrating to see him hobbling once again.
The frontline pacer will remain sidelined for at least two to three weeks before he makes a comeback once again.
"I think a lot of players coming out of a big domestic season are a little bit broken, but we just keep having to find solutions. So we'll do that in the next four days. But yeah, it's not ideal yet. The captain has to then think on his feet. Moeen Ali had to come back and he hadn't had a great day (but) he got the wicket of (Jos) Buttler which was good. And you've got young players like Akash (Singh) who is coming in for his first game, having to bowl some key overs. It's not how we plan but T20 very rarely goes to plan," Fleming said.
When it comes to Ben Stokes, who is nursing a toe injury, the England all-rounder is day-to-day, which is probably the only good news for the Men in Yellow.
