Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav's mayhem partnership blows PBKS bowlers away as MI chase down 215 with ease

Mumbai Indians (MI) created history in Mohali as they became the first team to chase down a target over 200 despite losing a wicket in the first over of the innings. Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav's magnificent half-centuries followed by finishing touch from Tilak Varma helped MI pull off a six-wicket win over Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) in run chase of 215. 
 

MI's run chase of 215 got off to a bad start with Rohit Sharma getting out for a three-ball duck to Rishi Dhawan. Cameron Green and Kishan used powerplay overs as well. Ishan Kishan smashed Rishi for two sixes in an over. In the next over Nathan Ellis broke the partnership with the wicket of Green who scored 23 runs from 18 balls. He got caught at mid-wicket after mistiming a pull shot. MI were 54/2 after six overs. 

Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav rebuild the partnership in the 10th over, Kishan hit left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar for a four and a six. Suryakumar joined the party as well as MI crossed the 100-run mark in the 11th over. Kishan got to his half-century from 29 balls. In the 13th over, Sam Curran was taken to the cleaners. Suryakumar hit two sixes followed by two fours to reach his half-century from just 23 deliveries.

Arshdeep Singh was brought back into the attack to break the partnership but he was smashed down the ground by Ishan Kishan for two fours and one six in the 21-run over. Ellis in his last over got the big wicket of Suryakumar as Arshdeep took a good catch at short third man. He scored 66 runs from 31 balls including eight fours and two sixes. Kishan and Suryakumar shared a 116-run partnership for the third wicket. Arshdeep came back well with the wicket of Ishan Kishan off the short ball. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 75 runs from 41 balls laced with seven fours and four sixes. 


But Arshdeep ended up conceding 16 runs from the 17th over as new batter Varma hit him for two sixes and one four. Tim David and Varma once again finished the game as MI avenged their defeat at Wankhede Stadium with a six-wicket win. The southhpaw hit Arshdeep for a six to help MI get over the line with seven balls to spare. He scored 26 runs from 10 balls including three fours and one six. 
 

Earlier, Rohit won the toss and opted to field first. In his first over, Arshad Khan got the wicket of Prabhsimran Singh for a single-digit score. Matthew Short used the fielding restrictions well and hit Arshad for a six and a four in the next over. Dhawan hit a couple of fours of Piyush Chawla as PBKS posted 50/1 in powerplay overs.In the seventh over, Archer dropped Dhawan's catch at backward point. It did not turn out to be a costly drop as Dhawan got stumped off Chawla's bowling. He scored 30 runs from 20 balls including five fours. After 10 overs, PBKS were 78/2. 

Livingstone was attacking right from the start. In his next over, Short got bowled by Chawla. He scored 27 runs from 26 balls including two fours and one six. Jitesh Sharma came out to bat all guns blazing as Archer conceded 21 runs in a single over. The attack came from both ends. Jitesh did not spare Arshad as he conceded 14 runs in the 17th over. Livingstone got to his half-century with a boundary in the 18th over. He took 32 deliveries to reach the milestone. 

In the penultimate over, Livingstone smashed Archer for three massive sixes in a row. Archer ended up conceding 27 runs from his last over. He went for 56 runs in his quota of four overs. Akash Madhwal finished well as he conceded nine runs in the final over with two explosive batters in the middle. Livingstone and Archer shared an unbeaten 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket from 52 balls helped PBKS post 214/3. Livingstone scored 82 runs from 42 balls including seven fours and four sixes. On the other end, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh scored 49 runs from 27 balls including five fours and two sixes.
