IPL 2023: List of 7 marquee players that have been ruled out of the upcoming cash-rich tournament

The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to begin on March 31, and with less than a week to go, players participating in the cash-rich tournament have already started training with their respective franchises. Before the greatest T20 franchise league in the world gets underway for the 16th time, multiple franchises have been rocked early with injuries to their marquee players.

Let's take a closer look at nine players who will miss IPL 2023:

1. Jasprit Bumrah: Mumbai Indians' premier pacer was ruled out of the competition after he underwent back surgery in New Zealand. The right-arm pacer has played an integral role in making the Men in Blue the most successful team in the cash-rich tournament.

2. Rishabh Pant: Delhi Capitals' captain suffered a gruesome car accident in 2022 and is currently rehabilitating after sustaining numerous injuries. In his absence. David Warner has been appointed as the franchise's skipper for IPL 2023.

3. Kyle Jamieson: Chennai Super Kings' overseas pacer suffered a back injury and was ruled out of IPL 2023 as he will undergo surgery. Jamieson was snapped up by CSK for his base price of Rs 1 crore in the auction.

4. Jonny Bairstow: Punjab Kings suffered a big blow when England's swashbuckling batter Jonny Bairstow was ruled out of the cash-rich tournament. Bairstow continues to recover from the freak injury that he sustained last year while playing golf.

5. Will Jacks: Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Will Jacks was ruled out of IPL 2023 due to an injury he sustained during England's ODI series against Bangladesh. Jacks was picked in the IPL auction for Rs 3.20 crore.

6. Prasidh Krishna: Rajasthan Royals' Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the 2023 season as he continues to undergo rehabilitation for a stress fracture. The right-arm pacer played a key role in the Royals' run to the final in IPL 2022.

7. Jhye Richardson: Mumbai Indians' overseas pacer was ruled out of the upcoming edition of the cash-rich tournament after undergoing surgery for hamstring issues.
