Lockie Ferguson bowls fastest delivery of IPL 2022, misses Shaun Tait’s all-time record by a whisker

Gujarat Titans (GT) Lockie Ferguson bowled with some serious in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 final against Rajasthan Royals. With the new ball, Ferguson bowled a thunderbolt of a delivery clocking at 157.3 kmph to surpass Umran Akmal’s 157 kmph delivery.


Ferguson bowled the near record-breaking delivery to RR opener Jos Buttler in the fifth over. Buttler tried to dig it out but could not get on a bat on it. He missed breaking the record held by Australian pacer Shaun Tait who bowled a 157.7 kmph delivery in 2014 edition for RR against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).


After Ferguson and Malik, Delhi Capitals (DC) bowler Anrich Nortje bowled a 152.6 kmph delivery followed by Titans’ Alzarri Joseph (151.8 kmph) and Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) Mohsin Khan (151 kmph).


The Kiwi speedster was not a part of Titans’ playing XI in the qualifier clash against Royals. He replaced Caribbean pacer Joseph for the final at Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad.


However, Ferguson could not get a wicket with the new fall. While he conceded six runs in the first over, he was hit for two boundaries in his second over of first spell.


Ferguson represented Hardik Pandya-led Titans in 13 games and picked up 12 wickets at an average of 35.08 and an economy rate over nine runs per over. His best bowling figures of 4/28 came against Rishabh Pant-led DC.
