The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ended Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) IPL 2021 journey with a four-wicket win. Australian star, Glenn Maxwell, who had a brilliant season for RCB with the bat, ended his tournament on a sour note, taking to social media to lambasts trolls for "spreading abuse".
RCB team members have been receiving hate on social media after the loss in eliminator which prompted a stern response from Maxwell. The Aussie ripped apart the trolls for abusing players on social media. However, the batting all-rounder thanked the ‘REAL fans’ for supporting the franchise.
On his Twitter post, Maxwell wrote, “Great season by RCB, unfortunately we fell short of where we thought we should be. Doesn’t take away from an amazing season!! Some of the garbage that has been flowing on the social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who are giving our best each and every day. Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse…,”.
“Thank you to the REAL fans that shared love and appreciation for the players giving their all!! Unfortunately there is some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be. It is unacceptable!!!! Please don’t be like them!!!, he added.
In another tweet, Maxweel wrote, “If you comment abuse of one of my teammates/friends social media with negative/abusive rubbish, you will be blocked by everyone. What is the point of being a terrible person? There is no excuse!!!, he concluded.
Meanwhile, Maxwell's compatriot Dan Christian posted a note on his Instagram story saying how his partner’s post had been targeted by the trolls. Christian also shared a screenshot of messages from fake account harassing his wife. The RCB all-rounder asked people to leave his wife out of it.
Christian had a bad day at the office as he scored 9 runs off 8 balls and gave away 29 runs in 1.4 overs including the 22-run over where he conceded three sixes.
