Mohammed Shami robbed of David Warner’s wicket, ball hits the stumps but bails remain unmoved

Zing bails have been in headlines for all the wrong reasons of late. There have been several instances where the ball has hit the stumps but the bails have not come off. One such incident took place in Delhi Capitals (DC) clash against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

With the first legal delivery of the match, Shami got the better of Warner as he squared him up. Warner tried to defend but it nipped away sharply and grazed the off stump but the bails remained intact. The ultraedge showed a spike when the ball passed the off stump. But Warner got a reprieve as the bails did not come off. The incident left GT wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha in disbelief.

Warner lost his opening partner Prithvi Shaw (7) and Mitchell Marsh (4) early in the innings as Shami struck twice in the powerplay overs. Warner struggled to score freely. In the ninth over, he chopped it on to his stumps. Alzarri Joseph took the southpaw's wicket. He scored 37 runs from 32 balls including seven fours. Towards the end of the innings, Axar Patel's 22-ball 36 helped DC post 162/8, the lowest total in this season so far for a team batting first.

Earlier GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to field first. Pandya brought David Miller in place of an injured Kane Williamson whereas Sai Sudharsan replaced Vijay Shankar. Warne made two changes to the side as well. He included Anrich Nortje for Rovman Powell. Also, he gave the debut cap to Abhishek Porel, the wicketkeeper-batter who replaced an injured Rishabh Pant in the squad.

In the previous game, Warner contributed with a 48-ball 56 in DC's 50-run loss to KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
