IPL 2023: After verbal altercation on-field, Mohammed Siraj and Phil Salt embrace each other as fans say 'lovely picture'

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a major loss away from home as Delhi Capitals (DC) batting lineup returned to its usual self and hammered RCB at home to win the match by seven wickets with 20 balls to spare on May 6 (Saturday). Phil Salt stood out of the lot with his Indian Premier League (IPL) career-best 45-ball 87 to dominate the Faf du Plessis-led side. Salt was exceptional as he hit the bowlers all around the park and tackled spinners by going on the back foot.

RCB bowler Mohammed Siraj did not like getting hit for sixes off consecutive deliveries as he got into a heated exchange with Salt. The incident took place in the fifth over of the innings. Salt was on song and had a stroke of luck as well. First ball, a top-edge landed in the stands. On the second ball, he read Siraj's change of pace and hit him for a six. On third ball, he was in total control with a boundary towards mid-wicket while advancing down the track.
On the fourth ball, Siraj bowls a short ball. Salt backed away from the pull and then asked for a wide from leg umpire which was signalled. Siraj did not like it and had an argument with Salt. David Warner intervened to diffuse the situation and Siraj told Salt to 'shush'. The on-field umpire and RCB skipper Faf du Plessis tried to calm Siraj down. The RCB pacer conceded just two runs off the remaining deliveries in his second over.

While the video of the argument went viral on social media, the two players hugged each other after DC’s dominating batting display.
"I know that if I go out there and put the pressure back on the bowlers and I get off to a good start, then it makes it easier for the next batter to have a good start, which means that our batting unit is a lot more likely to win," Salt said in the post match press conference.

"You know with that style of play when you do score runs, more often than not, you've got a much better chance of winning your team the game," the DC opening batter added.
