The Indian Premier League 2023 is around the corner and the teams are gearing up for the glitzy cricket carnival which is set to kick off from March 31.

All eyes will be on four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who had a terrible campaign in the previous edition of the IPL where they finished second last in the points table.

CSK staged a practice session with the players at their home ground of the Chepauk Stadium where skipper MS Dhoni was seen polishing his skills with the bat on Thursday (March 9).

In a video posted by CSK on Twitter, Dhoni was seen in his hitting best and belted monstrous sixes all around the park. The former India skipper looked in great touch as he hammered both spinners and pacers for massive sixes in what appeared to be an intra-squad simulated session.

Here's the video…

CSK will start their campaign against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 curtain raiser on March 31.

The IPL 2023 season could be the last dance of 41-year-old Dhoni as a player. In his farewell season, Dhoni would like to bow out with another IPL title, having already made CSK champions four times. Last year, CSK had handed the captaincy baton to Ravindra Jadeja, but they were forced to reverse the decision halfway through the season.

Dhoni, one of the greatest match winners of the Indian Premier League was seen sharpening his skills at Ranchi during India's T20I series vs New Zealand. Dhoni had come to meet the young India players in the dressing room and even visited the ground during the match. CSK bid heavily on England's star all-rounder Ben Stokes in the IPL 2023 auction as he was roped in for Rs 16.25 crore who could be Dhoni's successor in near future.

CSK will take on 2022-champions Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 opener on March 31.
