In a video that has gone viral on social media, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni can be seen strapping his injured left knee in the dressing room during the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season. Dhoni continued to march on despite a knee injury that limited his mobility. Known for being lightning quick not just behind the stumps but between the wickets too, Dhoni refrained from pushing himself to sneak an extra run. Instead, he relied on his power-hitting and contributed with cameos down the order. He was flexible with his batting position as well, arriving at the crease when the team required quick runs.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan on May 31 (Wednesday) confirmed that the franchise captain MS Dhoni will seek medical advice on his injured left knee. Dhoni, who powered through the pain and led CSK to its fifth IPL title, might even undergo surgery but the decision will solely depend on Dhoni himself.
"Yes, it is true that Dhoni will be taking medical advice for his left knee injury and accordingly decide. If surgery is advised, it can only be ascertained after reports come out, it will be completely his call," PTI quoted Viswanathan as saying.
Moving forward, all eyes will be on Dhoni and what he decides on his retirement decision. After the IPL final, the wicketkeeper-batter stated that he will try and return for one 'Last Dance' in 2024.
"Circumstantially, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be working hard for nine months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift from me, won't be easy on the body," said Dhoni after the IPL final.
