On Monday, the muscular batter occupied the batting crease for just three deliveries but his short stay was enough for the fans to go bonkers. Facing probably the fastest bowler in the world in Mark Wood, Dhoni launched his first two deliveries into the stands before getting dismissed on the third ball. His 12-run knock in three balls was pivotal in the Men in Yellow's 12-run win over the Lucknow Super Giants.
After the game, Dhoni reflected on the franchise's first victory of the season and underlined one area in which the team needs to improve going forward.
"Terrific high-scoring game. All of us were thinking how the wicket would be. It was the perfect first game that could happen. I thought it would be much slower. But it was a wicket where you could score runs. I was quite surprised with the wicket. But we'll have to see if we can produce a wicket like this game after game. Fast bowling we need to slightly improve. Need to bowl according to the conditions. What is important is to keep an eye as to what the opposition bowlers are doing," Dhoni told the host broadcaster as quoted by Cricbuzz.
