Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit is vigilant to curtail fixing in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The unit has taken steps to prevent unknown people from approaching the players. In a conversation with Sports Tak, a top official from ACU said that the players have to declare the number of cell phones they have along with their mobile numbers.

“We have created a whole system and are ready to face unwanted elements. Luckily, till now there is no report form any venue from any player. But we are keeping a close eye on everyone,” the source said.

The ACU is leaving no stone unturned and wants to keep a track on all players from their respective franchises.

“We have asked players to discloser their whereabouts. Also, we are keeping a track on their phones. The players have to declare the number of cell phones they have. They can't just declare one and use another one. They have to tell us the exact number of phones they have so that we can keep a track,” the source said.

The ACU is also gearing up for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India later this year. They are also taking steps to curb any outside involvement while the match is going on.

“In addition, when the match is on, no outsider can communicate with the players. This is not just for IPL. We have World Cup at home and looking at the risks, this SOP will continue.”

On April 16, Mumbai police crime branch arrested five people from Wankhede Stadium in a betting case. The five accused were using mobile betting apps during Mumbai Indians' (MI) clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
