Watch: Rush for IPL 2023 final tickets reaches new level, fans complain about mismanagement amidst stampede at counters

The BCCI has faced a lot of flak in the last couple of days after they were unable to handle the huge demand for tickets to the much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final, to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, May 28.

The online partner for buying tickets was PayTM Insider but even after booking their seats, the spectators were expected to collect a physical copy from the stadium. This led to queues in front of the ticket offices at the stadium as fans stood in the scorching sun, waiting for their turn. A video of the same has gone viral on social media.

The video shows fans in thousands crowding the stadium's ticket counters as chaos reigned at the stadium. Another user shared his ordeal on a Twitter thread, where he talks about the issues that he and other fans faced at the stadium.

"They did not have separate entrances for physical ticket sales and online ticket collections. So, a limited number of people were allowed inside, by opening either gate periodically, to prevent more people turning up for the physical ticket sales than expected," the Twitter handle Kathan said on the social media website.

"There are two obvious problems with this arrangement. Firstly, there were numerous people outside who already had tickets, who were forced to wait outside without reason. Secondly, it is impossible to manage a crowd that is outside the stadium, because all police personnel are inside, leading to a lot of chaos and a situation that I'd describe as a stampede," he added.

IPL 2023 Final
A lot of the crowds in Ahmedabad are gearing up for a mega IPL 2023 climax, with MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reaching their 10th final. The whole season has passed by with different claims that this might or might not be the final season for the talismanic wicketkeeper-batter.

With CSK already in the final, the battle to face them will take place between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the same venue in Ahmedabad on Friday, May 26.
