Former India star opener Virender Sehwag drew a backlash for his 'Vada Pav' tweet after Pat Cummins blistering 15-ball 56 which propelled Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an emphatic five-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday.

While congratulating the Australian all-rounder for slamming the joint-fastest fifty in IPL 2022 in his own witty style, Sehwag tweeted," Moonh se nivala cheen liya,, sorry vada pav cheen liya. Jeera Batti". It didn't go down well with Rohit Sharma's fans who started bashing Sehwag left, right and centre. Owing to this, Sehwag had to come up with a clarification on his earlier tweet.

In reply to his earlier tweet Sehwag asked Rohit fans to cool down. He said that the Vada Pav reference is for Mumbai and he is even a bigger fan of the current India captain's batting than most people.

Few hours later in another tweet the former India player tweeted," The Vada Pav reference is for Mumbai, a city which thrives on Vada Pav. Rohit fans thanda lo , I am a bigger fan of his batting much more than most of you guys".

Talking about the match, the premier pacer Cummins shone with the bat like never before, equalling the record for the fastest fifty in the IPL, including amassing 35 in an over to cruise KKR to victory.

Cummins blazed away to his fifty in just 14 balls, joining KL Rahul on the top of the leaderboard, while opener Venkatesh Iyer batted through the innings for his unbeaten 41-ball 50, as KKR completed a chase of 162 with as many as four overs to spare.

It was unbelievable stuff from Cummins as KKR, needing 35 from 30 balls, got them all in just six deliveries with the Australian Test captain hitting six sixes and four boundaries in his 15-ball 56.

Daniel Sams bore the brunt of Cummins' onslaught the most, conceding 35 runs in the 16th over, which sealed it for KKR. Together with Iyer, Cummins, who came in at number six, shared 61 runs in just 2.1 overs to overhaul MI's total of 161 for four.

MI, thus, slumped to their third defeat in as many matches.
