After the devastating accident that will keep Rishabh Pant out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and many other consequent tournaments, Delhi Capitals' Director Of Cricket Sourav Ganguly revealed that he is yet to speak to the young wicketkeeper-batter and wished him a quick recovery after he was involved in a car crash in December 2022.

Pant's car was involved in a major accident while driving on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. The 23-year-old had to undergo surgery to repair the injuries he had sustained. He is currently recovering at home and has missed many tournaments, including the recently-concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Pant has been providing fans with updates through his social media accounts and had posted a video of him showing his progress from the injuries he had sustained from the car crash.

"Grateful for small thing, big things And everything in between," said Pant in the post.

The wicketkeeper has been the captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) since 2020, but this season, they will have to look at other options. DC's director of cricket, Ganguly, in an exclusive conversation with India Today, revealed that he is yet to have a word with Pant and wished him a quick recovery.

"I have not spoken to him. I wish him a quick recovery. He is a young boy. He is just 23. He has got enough time to come back," said Ganguly.

When questioned about the replacement for Pant, Ganguly said that the team management is yet to take a decision on that and will make a call after the camp is over. "This is not yet decided. We will decide after the camp," said Ganguly.

Delhi Capitals will start their IPL 2023 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on April 1. The match will be an away fixture for DC who will be chasing their first IPL title this season. Meanwhile, sources in the know of things have reported that David Warner will take over the captaincy role in Pant's absence.
