'The secret at the Chepauk and what so many teams get wrong?': AB de Villiers has an advice for batters before LSG vs MI eliminator

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter AB de Villiers has an advice for batters few hours ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 eliminator at Chepauk between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI). As LSG look to make it to their first qualifier, De Villiers explained what many teams get wrong while assessing the Chepauk pitch and approaching their innings.

What’s the secret for batters at Chepauk?

“The secret at the Chepauk and what so many teams get wrong?? Every single run counts, no matter how good or bad you start. It’s the small things and not the big 6’s that win u (you) games there,” the former Proteas skipper wrote in a tweet.

Who will win IPL 2023 eliminator?

Known for his 360 degree shots, De Villiers also picked his favourite to advance into the IPL 2023 Qualifier 2.

“Who will play GT in Qualifier 2? I feel MI have a slight advantage considering form and big match players who’ve been here before,” he mentioned.

Confidence to play a huge role in IPL 2023 qualifier

While Gujarat Titans (GT) finished on the top of the points table, De Villiers feels that they will be vulnerable in the qualifier having lost to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 23.

“Whoever wins will take confidence to Ahmedabad against a GT team who might be feeling a touch low after yesterday’s loss,” the 39-year-old concluded.

Last week, De Villiers lauded former RCB teammate Virat Kohli for his record-breaking seventh IPL century in the last league clash. However, Kohli ended up on the losing side as RCB got knocked out of the playoffs race. GT opener Shubman Gill went on a rampage and scored his second century of the season to pull off a high-scoring run chase at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

“Tough pill to swallow. Well tried RCB. Shubman Gill and the Titans simply too good today,” De Villiers had tweeted after RCB’s last-over loss that ended their playoffs hopes.
