'It's time we tell him in English, don't come and play in IPL if...': Former DC captain heavily criticises David Warner

Delhi Capitals (DC), who are gunning for their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) glory, have endured a rough start to the ongoing season of the cash-rich tournament. Under David Warner's captaincy, the franchise has lost three successive matches to start the season. The DC skipper has registered 158 runs in three matches so far and is second on the list of leading run-getters in the tournament so far. Having said that, Warner's runs haven't helped the team's cause one bit.

The left-handed batter, who is renowned for destroying bowling attacks with his explosive batting, has looked like a pale shadow of himself. His runs have come at a below-average strike rate of of 117.04.

Former DC captain and legendary battery, Virender Sehwag was unimpressed by Warner's display with the bat and he launched a scathing attack on the Australian batter.

"I feel it is time that we tell him in English now so that Warner listens to it and feels hurt. David, if you are listening, please play well. Score 50 in 25 balls. Learn from Jaiswal, he hit it in 25 balls. If you cannot do that, do not come and play in the IPL," Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

Chasing a daunting target of 200 runs against Rajasthan Royals on April 8 (Saturday), Warner scored 65 runs off 55 balls. Sehwag didn't mince his words while criticising Warner's effort with the bat.

"It would have been better for the team if David Warner got out for 30 runs, rather than making 55-60. Players like Rovman Powell and Ishan Porel could have come out much earlier and maybe could have done anything. No balls were left for those players, and they are big hitters in team," the former DC captain added.

Meanwhile, the Aussie batter became the fastest player to register 6,000 runs in the cash-rich tournament during his knock against the Rajasthan Royals. With time running out and losses mounting Warner is now tasked to resurrect the fortunes of Delhi Capitals, both as a batter and leader.
