Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has easily been the biggest storyline of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Long been touted as a generational talent, the left-handed stylish batter is now knocking on the doors of the Indian national team after stacking up loads of runs in India's premier domestic competitions and in the greatest franchise T20 league in the world. The elegance, class and poise of Jaiswal were never in doubt but the way he has evolved into a power-hitter in the shortest format of the game has even surprised India captain Rohit Sharma.

Jaiswal; has won the approval of two of the biggest names in Indian cricket - Rohit and Virat Kohli - by destroying quality bowling attacks with sheer nonchalance and fearless demeanour.

The left-handed batter smashed the fastest half-century in the history of the cash-rich league and powered his team to a nine-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 11 (Thursday). Jaiswal put on a stunning show of big-hitting in the Royals' win at Eden Gardens.

The 21-year-old's father Bhupendra Jaiswal is brimming with pride as his son continues to push the run-scoring ceiling and break records that stood for years. Yashasvi's father is hoping that his son gets a national call-up soon and also wants him to keep working hard.

"My son is working hard and god willing, he will get a Team India call-up soon. It has been a journey filled with obstacles for Yashasvi. I hope he continues to shine and earns the Indian jersey soon," Bhupendra told Sports Tak in an exclusive chat.

Jaiswal reached his fifty in just 13 balls against KKR, the fastest in the tournament history as he broke a joint record held by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 98 in just 47 balls, hitting five sixes and 13 boundaries.

The southpaw smashed 26 runs in the first over bowled by Nitish Rana as the KKR captain paid the price for opening the bowling attack himself. Yashasvi Jaiswal missed his second century of the season by just two runs but he put on a display of stroke-making by imposing his will on both spinners and pacers.

Currently, Jaiswal is second in the leading run-scorers list. He has aggregated 575 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 167.15 and an average of 52.27.
