Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar joined the ranks of Jasprit Bumrah and Harbhajan Singh in congratulating his Mumbai Indians (MI) comrade Keiron Pollard as he called time on an illustrious Indian Premier League (IPL) career.
Tendulkar who was an MI legend himself took to Twitter and inked a heartfelt message to the West Indian icon and MI superstar as a reply to the retirement post.
Tendulkar congratulated Pollard on a glittering career and underlined his importance in the team for the younger players.
“At @mipaltan there is never a goodbye, Polly. Congratulations on becoming the new batting coach for the MI franchise. Your presence will be a big influence for all the boys in the dugout," Tendulkar said in his tweet.
The two cricket legends have shared the same stage while playing for the MI and have featured in myriad games together.
Indian pace spearhead bowler Jasprit Bumrah with whom Pollard shares great camaraderie also inked a profound message for his MI teammate.
“It'll take some used to you not being on the field out there with us, but I'll still enjoy our banter in the nets. Congratulations on an incredible career Polly and all the best for your new innings @KieronPollard55,” added Bumrah, who also kickstarted his IPL career at Mumbai Indians.
Pollard’s former teammate Harbhajan Singh also penned down a heartfelt message for Pollard on Twitter.
"Polly my man you hv won lot of hearts during ur long stint with @mipaltan Good luck as a batting coach and future .. See you soon Big man Love always," former MI skipper Harbhajan tweeted.
The retirement comes ahead of the forthcoming IPL 2023 auction which is scheduled to be held on December 23, 2022. Pollard who is a Mumbai Indian legend played a total of 13 seasons for the MI franchise who he called ‘’Family” in his longwinded retirement letter. However, this retirement does not mean that Pollard completely parts ways with the Mi franchise as his role from a player gets morphed into a batting coach for the IPL MI and MI Emirates.
