Pakistan suffered their seventh consecutive ODI loss in 2025 as they lost the three-ODI series 3-0. In the third ODI which was reduced to 42 overs per side due to wet outfield, Pakistan lost the match by 43 runs as they were bowled out for 221 in the run chase of 265. After the defeat, captain Mohammad Rizwan talked about leaving behind the defeats in ODI format and intends look forward to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) which will commence on April 11.
"After CT (Champions Trophy) and this series, we'll leave the past. PSL is a big tournament for us, hopefully we'll give the people something to cheer," Rizwan said in the post-match presentation.
Rizwan lauds Babar, credits New Zealand
Rizwan gave credit to New Zealand for outclassing Pakistan in all departments of the game. He pointed that the conditions were difficult for them in New Zealand and lauded teammate Babar Azam for scoring two half-centuries. Babar scored 50 runs from 58 balls in the third ODI.
"Disappointing series for us. Babar played well, two fifties in this series. I give credit to New Zealand in all three departments. It's difficult conditions for us here but they played good in Asian conditions as well," he said.

Rizwan was asked whether they performed their best in the third ODI of the series. The wicketkeeper-batter once again credited the hosts.
"If you lose, you can't say like that. New Zealand won the key moments," he added.
Rizwan's run in the ODI series
The 32-year-old scored 37 runs from 32 balls in the unsuccessful run chase at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. His innings featured two fours and a six. He was dismissed by pacer Jacob Duffy in the 33rd over of the run chase. From 169/5 in the 33rd over, Pakistan were bowled out for 221.

Rizwan has not been in the best of forms of late. In the three-ODI series he scored 72 runs from three innings. In the first ODI, he got a start and scored 30 runs whereas in the second ODI, he fell for a single-digit score.
