IPL 2025 Purple Cap Standings: Hardik Pandya surpasses Mitchell Starc with historic fifer

Hardik Pandya's record fifer helps him rise to 2nd spot.

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya scripted history Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 4. Pandya became the first captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to take a five-wicket haul. He also took a giant leap in the purple cap race this season. The fast-bowling all-rounder is now second on the list.

Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Shardul Thakur also moved up in the top five as he got the wicket of MI opener Ryan Rickelton in the third over of the innings. His teammate, LSG's mystery spinner Digvesh Rathi found a place in top 10 with the wicket of Naman Dhir. Digvesh has taken six wickets from four games. He was named 'Player of the match' for his economical spell against MI.

Noor, Starc in action

On April 5, a few changes can be expected in top five. The current purple cap holder, Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Noor Ahmad will be bowling against Delhi Capitals (DC). The Axar Patel-led side has been unbeaten. Also, DC's Mitchell Starc can take the top spot. CSK's left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed is another bowler who can make it into top five.

Arshdeep, Hasaranga's chance to move up

In the second game of the double-header Saturday, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will go up against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Both the teams don't have any bowler in top 10. However, RR's Wanindu Hasaranga and PBKS' Arshdeep Singh can move up. Both bowlers have five wickets each in the tournament so far.
