Will Jacks, without moving his feet, throws his hands at it, but due to the skiddiness of the ball, only manages a thin outside edge, behind, where Ishan Kishan makes no mistake. FOUR! Gets off the mark in style! Short of a length and well outside off. Suryakumar Yadav gets the chance to free his arms, gets on the toes, uses the pace on the ball and glides it through to the left of backward point for a boundary.

Ryan Rickelton tries to pull it off the back foot, but gets a top edge and the ball dips towards Praful Hinge at short fine leg. Hinge is a bit late to react and dive and the ball yorks his fingers. Spots Rickelton struggling to get to the other end, he has a shy at the stumps at the non-striker's end, but it's wide of the mark. Rickelton manages to scamper through for a single.

 And again! Back of a length around middle and leg. Jacks swings hard across the line, hits it off the inner half, but the ball falls just short of Hinge at short fine leg. Hinge gets a hand to his right but can't keep it clean, and the misfield lets them pinch a couple.

WIDE! Another slower delivery from Malinga, but this time he delivers it way outside the off stump, beyond the tramline. Will Jacks leaves it alone.

Short, on off and middle, Will Jacks pulls it down to wide mid on for a single.

 FOUR! Muscled! Just around off, on a good length. Ryan Rickelton goes deep in the crease and heaves it over mid-wicket for a cracking boundary. The intent is clearly there from these two openers. Something MI has missed so far this season.

 FOUR! Straight as an arrow! Pitched a little bit fuller, on the stumps. Ryan Rickelton presses forward, keeps his head steady and cracks the straight drive back past the bowler for a boundary. Picture perfect from Rickelton.

 That was travelling but Head does well! Hard length, outside off, Jacks slashes hard at it but gets a huge outside edge. The ball goes flat and on the bounce to the left of Travis Head at short third. Travis dives to that direction and cuts it off. A little more carry and that would have been a catch there.
