Kane Williamson extended his remarkable run of form in Test cricket as he registering his 29th century in the longest format of the game on Day 2 of the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet on November 29, Wednesday. This milestone places him alongside legendary cricketers Virat Kohli and Don Bradman in the elite group of players with the most Test centuries.

Williamson's latest ton marks his third consecutive century in red-ball cricket, having previously achieved the feat in the two Tests against Sri Lanka earlier this year. Notably, he reached this milestone 22 innings and 16 Tests fewer than Kohli, showcasing his exceptional consistency and ability to convert starts into substantial scores. Moreover, the 33-year-old becomes the first New Zealand batter to score three consecutive Test centuries in 32 years.

With an impressive average of over 55 in Test cricket, Williamson continues to solidify his position as one of the most prolific run-scorers in the format. 

 

In a gritty display of batting prowess, former New Zealand captain Williamson anchored the team's innings with a resolute century, guiding them to a commanding position in the first Test against Bangladesh. Despite facing regular wicketfalls at the other end, Williamson remained unfazed, showcasing his exceptional temperament and technical brilliance. Williamson's masterful knock of 104 runs from 205 balls, laced with 11 elegant boundaries, epitomised his ability to bat with composure under pressure. He forged crucial partnerships with Daryl Mitchell (41) and Glenn Phillips (42), providing the innings with much-needed stability amidst the fall of wickets. 

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh, electing to bat first, were dismissed for 310 runs. In response, New Zealand, thanks to Williamson's sterling century, closed the second day at a commanding 266/8. Despite losing three quick wickets towards the end of the day, the visitors remain well-placed to take control of the match. Talking about Bangladesh's bowling, Taijul Islam remained the pick of the bowlers with an exceptional spell of 4/89.
