New Zealand players are traditionally good fielders whether it comes to ground fielding or catching. In the second ODI of the four-ODI series, Mitchell Santner made jaws drop with a fantastic one-handed acrobatic catch to dismiss Jonny Bairstow early in the innings.

The wicket fell on the first ball of the third over. Trent Boult bowled an inswinger and Bairstow played across the line. The leading edge went towards cover but Santner was not in a comfortable position to take the catch. He jumped high in the air and managed to get his hands on the ball. As he made ground, the ball did not pop out of his hand.

Bairstow departed after scoring six runs from eight balls. He became Boult's first wicket on his 100th ODI appearance. It also led to a top-order collapse. In the same over, Joe Root got out lbw playing across the line as well. In his next over, Boult got the wicket of Ben Stokes who danced down the wicket to play an attacking shot. England were reduced to 8/3 in the fifth over.

Harry Brook could not do much with the bat as well. He departed after scoring just two runs from 12 balls. Matt Henry got his wicket in the eighth over. Skipper Jos Buttler launched a counter-attack and hit Boult for three fours in the seventh over.

In the 13th over, Santner ended Buttler's stay at the crease. The inside edge of Buttler’s bat crashed into the stumps. Buttler scored 30 runs from 25 balls. England lost half their side for 55 in the 13th over.

Earlier, due to rain and wet outfield, the play was delayed. Tom Latham won the toss and opted to field first in the rain-curtailed 34 overs per side affair.
