Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team poured all their efforts into turning around the tables on New Zealand in the first Test which is being played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, they are now appearing to be enough as the visitors only need 107 runs to win this opening Test of the three-match series. Sarfaraz Khan's 150 and Rishabh Pant's 99 did steal the limelight on Day 4 but after them, the hosts witnessed another batting collapse that restricted them to just 462.
Pant and Sarfaraz to the rescue
When Day 4 started India were 231/3 and were still trailing behind by 125 runs. The hosts needed a big partnership here and it was ensured by the dynamic duo of Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant. Both of them joined together 177 runs and put the Indian side back in the game.
Sarfaraz Khan turned his maiden Test century into 150 and Pant missed his ton by just one run. However, both of these knocks were extremely crucial. But their departures once again put the Indian team in a state of bother.
NZ bowlers make comeback
India despite putting on an astonishing performance with the bat were not happy as they witnessed yet another batting collapse. They lost their final 6 wickets in a span of just 29 runs. India would have wanted to increase their lead a lot more but could only add 106 runs against NZ.
The visitors now only need 107 runs to win and with a whole day in their hand, it does not appear to be a tough job. On the other hand, the Indian team would need another miraculous performance with the ball to pull this off in their corner again.
