Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali slammed India batter KL Rahul after his flop show in the 1st Test match against Bangladesh at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. He just managed to score 12 runs in two innings. In the first innings, KL Rahul got out on a duck along with Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Sarfaraz Khan Ravichandran Ashwin which led India to register an unwanted record of getting all-out on just 46 runs.
While chasing, New Zealand scored 402 runs to take a lead of 356 runs. While training, India captain Rohit Sharma scored a half-century before getting an unlucky dismissal after that Kohli who was looking confident with Sarfaraz Khan got out on 70 in the last ball of the day. After Kohli's dismissal, Rishabh Pant (99) and Sarfaraz (150) helped India to take a lead of 110 runs. KL Rahul got a flop in the second inning as well scoring 12 runs.
Basit Ali said that benching Sarfaraz Khan would be an injustice to him and KL Rahul should be rested now.
"Once Shubman Gill is fit, there should not be an injustice to Sarfaraz Khan. KL Rahul should be rested now. People rate him very highly, but his performances haven't been like that. He did very well in South Africa but hasn't done the same in home matches," Basit said on his YouTube channel.
Gill missed the first Test match due to a slight niggle and the young batter will most likely be back in the playing XI for the second Test match which is scheduled to take place at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune from October 24 to 28.
