India's star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant didn't take much time to become Team India's constant and has also contributed to umpteen crucial victories in freshly started international cricketing career. One of Rishabh Pant's most celebrated victories came at the Gabba during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Facing a daunting target of 328 runs on the fifth day, Pant led India's comeback against a formidable Australian bowling attack. Despite India's struggles at times, Pant remained composed and played a fearless innings. His 89 runs off 138 balls, including 9 fours and 1 six, propelled India to victory. This historic knock was instrumental in India's series win and earned widespread praise from cricket pundit and enthusiasts worldwide.

Meanwhile, During a recent Star Sports event, Rishabh Pant was asked a question about several Australian cricketers naming him as the Indian player who is most "Australian." Pant responded in a humble manner, stating that he couldn't praise himself.

He went on to say that there are certain performances in cricket that are etched into memory forever, and his knock at the Gabba was undoubtedly one of those.

"I don't have an answer for this. Apni tareef thodi naa kar sakte hain (I can't praise myself). You have to praise me. I try to do my best. Sometimes, there are performances which are remembered for the lifetime. So, these are some of those performances and one of them is Gabba," Pant said at the event.

 

The pitch was not conducive to batting, but Rishabh Pant continued to play an aggressive style of cricket. He took the Australian bowlers head-on with a fearless approach. His gameplay against Nathan Lyon was particularly impressive, especially considering the expectations that Lyon would be a major threat on that day.

After the match, Rishabh Pant shared a piece of advice he received from Rohit Sharma. According to Pant, Rohit emphasized the significance of his knock and how it would be remembered for years to come

"When it happened, I also didn't knew. Rohit (Sharma) bhai was there and he told me, 'Tujhe nahi pata tune kya kara hai (You don't know what you have done)'. I replied back by saying that we have just won this match," Rishabh Pant explained.

 

"Then, he told me that you will get to know about it in some years. So, wherever I go now and I hear about it, then I get to know what actually has happened," he added.

India achieved a remarkable victory in the match and series, and Pant fittingly scored the winning runs. His exceptional batting performance earned him the Player of the Match award. This series tested the depth of India's squad, as several key players were injured or unavailable. However, the young players stepped up admirably, showcasing their immense talent. With the exception of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, every other player in the squad was either injured or did not play all the matches. Rishabh Pant is expected to be a crucial player for India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar series. The wicketkeeper-batter is in excellent form and will undoubtedly pose a threat to Australia on their home turf.
