India's star pacer Mohammed Siraj has become World no.1 in ODI rankings for his latest exploits in the New Zealand and Sri Lanka series. He snared five wickets in the first and second ODI against New Zealand while he scalped nine wickets in the three-match series against Sri Lanka.

Siraj's rose to the pinnacle after dislodging the earlier no.1 Trent Boult from the top in the latest ICC rankings for ODI bowlers. Siraj, earlier claimed no.3 spot after his heroics in the Sri Lanka series. In no time he added five more to get past World no.2 Jos Hazlewood and now no.3 Boult.

Siraj has been performing exceeding well for India for the past one year, especially in the One Day Internationals. Siraj on his way to the top has 729 rating points, just two clear of Australia's star speedster Hazlewood.

In the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj emerged as the perfect foil for Mohammad Shami and other bowlers that the Indian team tried out to find that perfect bowling combination with the new ball. He picked wickets upfront giving his team the best start possible.

Siraj has collected 37 wickets from 20 matches to be one of India's most consistent fast bowlers and the accolades have started to pile in for the underrated 28-year-old. He was recently named in the ICC Men's ODI Team of the Year for 2022 as well.  Meanwhile Siraj's compatriot Mohammed Shami has also taken a leap of 11 places to sit at 32nd place in the ODI bowlers' rankings.

As far as batting rankings are concerned, India's star batter Shubman Gill, who cracked a sensational century in the third ODI against New Zealand on Tuesday (January 24), has jumped 20 places to grab the sixth spot in the standings. His rise gave a downward push to batting juggernaut Virat Kohli who slipped to seventh spot while while skipper Rohit Sharma sits at no.8 in the rankings after his rollicking hundred against the Kiwis in Indore.

A total of three India batters are floating in the top-10 while Pakistan captain Babar Azam reigns supreme in the ODI batter rankings,
