Suryakumar Yadav has a chance to break all-time ICC T20I batter rankings record

India's hard-hitting batter Suryakumar Yadav has continued to dominate the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20I batter rankings. In the newly released rankings Suryakumar remains on top undisputed.

After a quickfire 47-run knock in the first T20I of the ongoing three-T20I series against New Zealand, Suryakumar reached the rating of 910 points. However, his rating points took a minor hit of two points as he played an unbeaten 31-ball 26 on a tough spin-friendly Lucknow pitch.

In the series decider at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad, Suryakumar has a chance to break England batter Dawid Malan's all-time record for highest rating in men's T20I batter rankings. Malan was in stupendous form in 2020 and had a rating of 915 points.

The 32-year-old has been a T20I phenomenon. He needs six more sixes to become fastest to 100 sixes in T20I format. Also, he will become the third Indian batter after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to achieve the feat.

Recently, Suryakumar was named ICC T20I batter of the year 2022. He scored 1,164 runs from 31 innings at an average of 46.56 including two centuries and nine half-centuries. Moreover, he scored with an outstanding strike rate of 187.43. Recently, he also scored his third T20I century in space of just six months with a match-winning ton against Sri Lanka at home.

Even though there is no T20I action for India in the next few months, Suryakumar is likely to remain at the top as the second-ranked batter Pakistan's Mohamamd Rizwan has 836 rating points. He is followed by New Zealand opener Devon Conway (788), Pakistan skipper Babar Azam (778) and South Africa's Aiden Markram (748).

No other Indian batter is in top 10. The only change in top 10 is Glenn Phillips slipping one position to ninth after a below par display in India. Virat Kohli is the next Indian batter in the rankings who is placed 14th with 618 rating points. Kohli has not played a T20I since India's T20 World Cup 2022 exit after losing to champions England in the semi-final.
