Rishabh Pant to Hardik Pandya: Three Indian stars who will likely to miss out from ODI squad vs NZ
Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant

Story Highlights:

India vs New Zealand ODI series is scheduled to start from January 11.

Rishabh Pant likely to miss three match ODI series against New Zealand.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will announce India's 15-member squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, where some notable players, including Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, will be seen donning the India jersey. Apart from Rohit and Virat, India ODI captain Shubman Gill, who missed out spot from India's T20I squad against the same opponent, will be leading the side.

The star batter will feature for Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy before leading India in the ODI series against New Zealand. However, some players will not be seen featuring for India. Here are three players who are likely to miss the spot in the ODI series against New Zealand.

Rishabh Pant: The wicketkeeper-batter might be dropped from the ODI team. Rishabh Pant hasn't played an ODI for the team since 2024. Pant was on the bench during the series against England and the Champions Trophy. He was also on the bench against Australia and South Africa. In his absence, BCCI might look KL Rahul, Jitesh Sharma, Sanju Samson or Ishan Kishan to keep wickets.

Hardik Pandya: Hardik Pandya is fully fit and available for selection, but there are chances that the star all-rounder will be given rest for the ODI series to manage his workload because India are scheduled to play a five-match T20I series against the same opponent. Considering the T20I World Cup, the BCCI will use Hardik cautiously.

Jasprit Bumrah: India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has missed ODIs since India toured Australia, and the BCCI is giving him rest from the ODIs to manage his workload. There are high chances that he will miss the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. However, Bumrah will play in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand because this will be India's last assignment before the T20 World Cup 2026.
