India star batter Rohit Sharma can go on to surpass both Mohammad Azharuddin and Virender Sehwag on an elite list in the second ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand. Rohit has a phenomenal record when it comes to ODIs against the Black Caps and has scored a total of 1099 runs in 32 matches so far.

The 38-year-old has registered two centuries, six half-centuries and also has a great average of 37.89. If he scores 58 runs more in the upcoming fixture, then he will surpass both Azharuddin and Sehwag on the list of Indian players with the most runs against New Zealand in one-day cricket. Rohit currently stands fifth on the list and will have a chnce to move all the way up to third.

Rohit's cheap dismissal in 1st ODI
Rohit looked to be fine touch during the first ODI against New Zealand, but he lost his wicket after providing India with a decent start. He was dismissed for 26 runs by pacer Kyle Jamieson, who broke the opening partnership for 39 runs. However, the wicket didn't really affect India as the likes of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer helped them reach the 301-run target with six deliveries left to spare.

Virat proved to be the Player of the Match and played a standout knock of 93 runs, while Gill and Iyer also recorded impressive scores of 56 and 49 respectively as the Men in Blue took a 1-0 lead in the series. They will end up sealing the series if they go on to come out victorious in the second ODI that will be held at the Niranjan Shah stadium in Rajkot on January 14. Additionally, the series finale will be held at the Holkar stadium in Indore on January 18.
