India ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer lavished praise on batting great Virat Kohli after the team's four-wicket win against New Zealand in the first ODI at BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara. Iyer, who made his international comeback after recovering from an injury he got in Australia during the third ODI, believes that whatever anyone talks about Kohli's innings would be very little.

Kohli continued his lethal form in the opener ODI against New Zealand as he smashed 93 runs that helped India to chase down 301 runs. The BCCI shared a clip where Iyer lauded the former India captain for his masterclass against the Black Caps. Here is the video.

Virat Kohli surpassed Kumar Sangakkara

Kohli, who already retired from Tests and T20Is, has surpassed Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara to become the highest run-getter in international cricket. The 37-year-old now has ​​​​​​28068* runs, and Sangakkara scored 28016 runs in his international career.

Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, Kumar Sangakkara

Kohli became the fastest batter to complete 28,000 international runs across formats. He reached the landmark in his 624th innings with a boundary off leg-spinner Adithya Ashok. By comparison, Sachin Tendulkar reached the mark in 644 innings, while Sri Lanka great Kumar Sangakkara did so in 666 innings.

India vs New Zealand 1st ODI

India registered a close win against New Zealand in the first ODI to take a 1–0 lead in the three-match series. The chase was built around a composed knock from Virat Kohli, while KL Rahul kept his cool at the end to see India home with a six.
 

India vs New Zealand 2nd ODI

The second ODI between India and New Zealand is scheduled to take place on January 14 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
