Pakistan skipper Babar Azam scripted history as he has created yet another World Record in the ODIs. With Pakistan versus New Zealand's fourth ODI on display in Karachi, Babar became the fastest batsman to amass 5000 runs in the One Day International as he took just 97 innings to launch this World Record on Friday (May 5).
While stepping on this massive milestone, Babar left behind the likes of cricket greats from past and present, Hashim Amla, Virat Kohli, Vivian Richards, David Warner.
Earlier, former South Africa's ace batter Amla held the record of fastest 5000 runs which he scripted in 101 innings while Babar took four innings less than him to reign supreme in the Elite list.
Pakistan captain is now followed by Amla Amla (101), Richards (114), Kohli (114), and David Warner (115).
Not just this, in the third ODI against Kiwis Babar also notched a record of highest win-percentage among Pakistan captains (minimum 20 ODIs) – surpassing the record of Salim Malik. He achieved this feat after beating New Zealand by 26 runs in the third ODI and taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Here’s a list of most successful Pakistan captains in ODIs (by win-percentage)…
