New Zealand's Kane Williamson has surpassed India's Virat Kohli as the highest run-scorer in Test cricket. This marks the first time in nearly six years that Williamson has surpassed Kohli's tally in the longest format of the game. Williamson achieved this milestone during the ongoing second Test match against Sri Lanka at the Galle International Cricket Stadium. Notably, Williamson has faced difficulties during the Sri Lanka tour, failing to meet expectations in both matches. In the first Test, he scored 55 runs in the first innings and 30 runs in the second innings.
Williamson Struggles in Second Test
In the ongoing second Test, Kane Williamson faced difficulties in both innings. In the first innings, he managed only 7 runs off 53 balls. Despite looking in decent touch in the second innings, Williamson couldn't make a significant impact for his team as the Sri Lankan bowlers dominated.
Williamson scored 46 runs off 58 balls, including four boundaries. He played some elegant strokes and was expected to save the match for New Zealand. However, he was dismissed by Nishan Peris just before reaching his half-century in the second innings.
