When New Zealand's cricketer-turned-pundit Simon Doull launched a scathing attack on Pakistan and Peshawar Zalmi skipper, Babar Azam, it turned into a controversy. After his blistering remarks on Babar, Doull was subjected to a ton of nuisance on social media as the stylish batter's fans came to his defense.
The whole incident occurred when Babar scored 115 to help his side post a mammoth total of 240/2 on March 8 at Pindi Club Ground in Rawalpindi. While on paper a 115-run knock looks as good as any, former New Zealand cricketer Doull was not happy with Babar using up too many deliveries to get to his century. Doull hinted that Babar prioritised his personal milestone over the team's demand.
"Rather than putting the team first... the last little while, that's all that been happening. Rather than looking for boundaries, still so much firepower to come. Hundreds are brilliant, stats are great, but it has to be team first,” Doull said while commentating during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match.
A few days later, Doull and Babar were spotted having a chat during a match which the latter missed due to illness. Doull later revealed the crux of his conversation with Babar in the commentary box.

"I don't need to say what was said but it was good. Lots of respect from both sides and it was really good. He [Babar] wasn't feeling at his best," Doull was heard saying on commentary.
Babar has often been criticised for his strike rate in the shortest format of the game. The stylish batter has scored truckloads of runs in T20s for Pakistan and for different franchises. But at times the pace at which he has scored his runs has not gone down well with fans and pundits.
