After a major revamp in cricket administration and a change in leadership, Pakistan are set to take on Australia in the three-Test series. While so far there were all positive stories coming out of the Pakistan camp, a video of former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed arguing with Saud Shakeel during a training session in Canberra has gone viral on social media.
Pakistan are in Canberra for a four-day warm-up match at Manuka Oval against Prime Ministers XI before they travel to Perth for the Test series opener. In the video, Sarfaraz can be seen with his kit on while Shakeel waited for his turn to bat. While it is not clear why they were arguing in the short video, it seems that there was a disagreement over taking turns to bat in the nets.
"For how long will I continue to be of use to you?" Shakeel asked Sarfaraz, as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
"You won't be of any use to me. To begin with, I never instructed you to do anything. I never requested you to make a swap. I swapped with the person I intended to," the 36-year-old replied as he looked frustrated.
Last month, Sarfaraz and Saud were involved in a hilarious exchange. The wicketkeeper-batter had appealed for a timed-out dismissal in Pakistan's intra-squad during the preparatory camp before boarding the flight to Australia.
Shakeel who was strolling to the crease had to run towards the crease. Later, Sarfaraz took back the appeal as teammates enjoyed the camaraderie between the two Pakistan middle-order batters.
Earlier, Sarfaraz said that this Pakistan side is strong and capable of challenging the hosts.
"It is not an upset. If you talk about our team, it is a settled team. We want to play good quality cricket against a top team, so hoping for the best," Sarfaraz said.
Sarfaraz showed faith in new captain Masood and Babar Azam as the latter will play for Pakistan after relinquishing captaincy from all three formats.
"This is a good team with some top-quality players. Shan is captaining for the first time, a lot of congratulations to him for getting the opportunity. Babar is also involved a lot and helping him in his early days in captaincy," he added.
