Australian cricket team captain Pat Cummins has shared his unique perspective on David Warner's potential retirement scenario from Test cricket. As Warner prepares for his final Test match against Pakistan, Cummins humorously suggests that Warner taking a wicket would be an unforgettable way to conclude his Test career. This statement came during a pre-match conversation about the third and final Test match against Pakistan.

Cummins initially commented that the ideal farewell for Warner would be scoring a century in Sydney. However, he playfully added that an even better scenario might involve Warner securing a wicket in his last Test match.

"Maybe some leg spin? Take the last wicket of the game or something, out of the rough. I only just thought of it then," Cummins said in the press conference.

David Warner, primarily known for his batting prowess, has taken four wickets in his Test career. His last wicket in Test cricket dates back to 2012, in a match against South Africa, where he dismissed Hashim Amla, with Matthew Wade executing the stumping at the Adelaide Oval. Despite being renowned as an opener, Warner's occasional bowling has added depth to the Australian side. His last stint as a bowler in a Test was in 2016, and he has not bowled in other formats recently.

Warner had a strong start to the series against Pakistan, hitting a century in Perth. However, his performance in both innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was less impressive, setting the stage for a potentially thrilling conclusion at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Known for being a batter-friendly venue, the SCG offers Warner a great opportunity to end his Test career on a high note. With over 8500 runs in Test cricket, Warner is widely regarded as one of the greatest all-format openers in the history of the game.

As Australia heads into the final Test match against Pakistan, they have decided not to make any changes to their playing XI. This stability in the team composition allows Warner to focus on delivering a memorable performance in what could be his last appearance in Test cricket, whether through his legendary batting or a surprise wicket, as playfully suggested by Captain Pat Cummins.
